The Look are a UK pop band, who had a number six hit single in the UK Singles Chart in 1981, with "I Am The Beat".

Career[edit source | editbeta]Edit

They started out as a progressive rock band called The Kreed.[2] The original foursome from ElyCambridgeshire moved to London and changed their name to The Look, which was a reference to the British 1960s modelJean Shrimpton.[2] Their lead singer and frontman was Johnny Whetstone (born c. 1955). After the minor follow-up hit, "Feeding Time" (No. 50, 1981),[1]their third single "Tonight" (1956 song) failed to reach the charts. The singles, and self-titled album, were released on the MCA Records label. The group subsequently moved from MCA to the small Towerbell Records indie label.[3] When that label closed shop in 1983, The Look folded as well.[3]

They returned after a long absence in April 2005 with a new album, entitled Pop Yowlin', on Angel Air Records.[3] It received a warm critical reception, including  from Allmusic.[3]

Gus Goad appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2006 in the Identity Parade.

They have their first live show in seven years at The Water Rats in London on 26th March 2013, organized by GM Records Presents.
