Psychedelic rock has been described as being influenced by Rock music, psychedelia, raga music, work songs, novelty song, jazz, raga rock, electronic music.
It was used as a way to break free from musical rules and develop new techniques. It was about breaking the boundaries and some artists explored psychedelic experiences with mind-altering substances. The whammy bar, wah-wah pedal and amplifier distortion were created during this period. Long, extended songs found airplay on many "free-form" radio stations and programs. Famous psychedelic rock artists are Jimi Hendrix, the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles and Pink Floyd.
